Well, I made the purchase last night. After much “back-and-forth” over what I wanted to buy (Go cheap with a mazda 3? Fun and a little juvenile with a FoST? Be a boring Grown up and get an Accord?), I decided that I should really get what I wanted.
Of course, the were fresh out of the Colorado Crew Cab LT V6 I wanted, but this Canyon SLE checked all the boxes. It’s a little nicer on the inside too. I probably didn’t get the best deal in the world, but I walked away happy, payments are right where I want them, and I finally feel like my vehicle fits me.
Feel free to rag on me for not buying a manual, diesel, brown, RWD wagon. I can’t hear you over my happy.

Nice buy! Love these trucks.

Congrats on the new truck, looks sweet.
I have a soft spot for the Looks of GM trucks.

Congrats! When I got my Taco, the Canyon/Colorado twins were JUST hitting dealer lots, and nobody was offering any kind of deal on them. I didn’t like it several thousand dollars more than the Tacoma, but at a similar price, I’d most likely be swayed.
GMCs have always been the most aesthetically pleasing pickup for me. That’s a nice truck you’ve got there. Enjoy!

Radness! Awesome choice!

I wasn’t sure I was sold on the Mini-Sierra look at first, but in that color it really fits. Plus the real soft spot is the interior of GMC trucks.

This is the first “nice” vehicle I’ve ever bought. It’s quiet, comfy, and the tech package is SUPER nice.

Yeah, they’re still not heavily discounting them, but it’s hard to argue with 0% for 72 months.

Indeed! I know those are really nice machines with rad options. Enjoy it!

Agreed on that point. I got 0% for 60 on the Tacoma. Congrats again on a sweet ride!

You would be amazed at how may people on here would actually do this. But congrats, I was very impressed with the Colorado the once I’ve been in it.

I looked pretty heavily at the Canyon before I went with the Tacoma. I really liked it but I couldn’t deal with the seats and lack of lumbar adjustment. I would have had to go with the SLT and couldn’t justify the price jump.
It sure is a nice truck.

y u no diesel
No, seriously. It’s way better. Even considering the price gap. Put the two in a race and the v6 will come out ahead, but the diesel feels way nicer to drive. So much more torque. Plus, dat MPG.
I’ve driven both. The V6 felt like a dog to me. Felt like it had nothing off the line. The diesel felt very similar to my V8. Slower, definitely, but very similar. Same low-end response, revs-we-don’t-need-no-damn-revs feeling.
Anyway, congrats otherwise :) How do you feel about the steering? I found it nice on the way in, nicely weighted, but I though it returned to center a bit too aggressively.

Congrats! I just got my new truck (Tacoma DCLBTRDOR) so I know that feeling! I’m 4 months in and the feeling hasn’t gone away! In fact, if anything, it’s gotten better now that all the anxiety of such a big purchase has melted away.
Did you get the transfer case?

Nah. If I’m entirely honest it’s my weekend project truck, and my projects have never involved any serious off roading so far. Having that bed is going to be a game changer though.

Would have loved the diesel, but holy shit that price premium. If you can find one you wind up in one of the higher trims, and then it’s tacking on another $4k (I think) for the engine. That just put it out of reach for me.
I totally agree on the steering. Comes back to center hardcore, and took a little getting used to it.

Having a bed is so nice. So much room and who gives a crap if it’s dirty. Congrats again!

Weird, I felt 100% opposite.

What do you drive now?

Sonoma. Both felt faster than it though. Diesel just felt more like a full size truck.

I was going to say you might prefer the V6 if you preferred/were used to revvy engines, but assuming you have the 4.3 that’s probably not the case...
It just felt more like a big engine, where the V6 felt like a small engine working hard. You had to wring it out if you wanted to go places.

Ya sort of agree, my truck feels like it is working hard all the time too though haha.
